Aristotle said persuasion was, “The art of getting someone to do something they wouldn’t ordinarily do if you didn’t ask.” Persuasion is more than changing hearts and minds, it’s about changing behavior. Whether you want someone to approve your project, meet your deadline, or just get your kids to do their homework, persuasion is a skill that can help you accomplish your goals. There are more than seven decades of research into the psychology of persuasion but very few people know the science. As a result, most people not nearly as effective as they could be when it comes to moving others to action. Brian will help change that! He combines more than 30 years in the insurance industry with a deep understanding of psychology in entertaining and engaging ways to show audiences how to apply the psychology in ways that will ensure their professional success and personal happiness.
Brian Ahearn, CPCU, CTM, CMCT®, is the Chief Influence Officer at Influence PEOPLE. Brian’s works with people in sales, marketing, leadership and business coaching to help them apply the psychology of influence and persuasion in everyday situations. A cum laude graduate of Miami University, Brian was in the insurance industry for more than 30 years, splitting time with national and super regional insurance companies. During that time Brian held positions in personal lines underwriting, commercial lines underwriting, sales, and corporate training. In addition to having his CMCT® certification Brian is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and a Competent Toastmaster (CTM). Brian’s blog has readers in 200 countries and was named one of the Top 30 Psychology Blogs of 2012 by the Online Psychology Degree Guide. Brian was named one of The Top 100 Influencers of 2016 by Science of Digital Marketing.
