The Ethics of Big Data in Evaluating Risk

Advancements in technology permit insurers to access and exchange massive volumes of structured and unstructured data. Using data science and artificial intelligence, insurers can quickly capture and analyze data to categorize risk, prevent fraud losses, and optimize expenses. Today data science and Artificial Intelligence are used across underwriting, rating, pricing, forms, marketing, claims handling, and so much more. How does a non-technical leader make sense of it all? We will discuss the ethics of using these techniques in insurance, and how we can transform from using data defensively to using data to drive resilience for our insureds.
